True Tales of the Soryan Order

A Partial Map Of Our World My Lord, this "Empire" is nothing more than a loosely affiliated collection of rustic fiefdoms. King Bhurain rules over a poverty-stricken land. They are no threat to our Holy Order. Alas, we must include the symbol of our enemies, the Soryan Order. Sad days indeed when we must share our lands with these heretics. Il'Doran - our own Nation, given to us by the Grace of Aeremon, Himself. I pray that soon we shall have it back from heathens and heretics, My Lord. The Baradia continent is a cold, inhospitable and difficult place. It's people are extremely violent and suffer no strangers. They attack on sight. Of course, they cannot harm us, but bringing the word of Aeremon will be a challenge. My Lord, this region is infested with filthy giants! The beasts are powerful beyond reason and too numerous to destroy. Surely Aeremon means us to utilize the foul creatures somehow..? These areas to the north are obviously home to Dragons. Expeditions do not survive to return with information, but as far as we can tell, there is nothing worthwhile in these regions. Best avoided. As you know, the Kelland are one of the few civilized nations in the world. Despite having no magic of their own, and despite our bloody history, they had proven themselves a valuable ally. Until now. Sources have them consorting with Soryans, My Lord... These monolithic columns are similar to the ones barring us from the Elven Island to the southwest. They appear to be defunct. The Kelland obviously have no idea how to operate them, although they wish us to believe otherwise. This is the only proven remnant of Elven civilization. Although we can only look from the sea. The columns surrounding the island prevent entry. Undoubtedly, there is much power to be gained from this place. However, the cost of entry is too high a price to pay. Best avoided for now. These columns are the lasting legacy of the lost civilization of Elves. Trying to sail in between the columns to reach the islands will trigger a violent and terrible power. Too many Holy Brothers have lost their lives trying to gain entry. This cured place is best left alone. This of course, is our own Holy Symbol. Aeremon willing, we will see it fly over all the lands of this world. Surprisingly, this frozen wasteland is populated. The people here are tribal, barely lingual, and utterly beneath our notice. The leviathan creatures beneath the Savir Ocean are believed to be related to the dragons in the north. Luckily, these monstrous beasts attack very rarely, and seem to want to be left alone. The Erel Ocean provides the bulk of our fishing needs, though more and more resources have been devoted to defending against dragon attacks while out on the sea.

For centuries, the Holy Order of Aeremon have used their magic to protect and control the nation of Il'Doran.

Now a generation after a devastating civil war, their rivals, the Soryan Order, have risen to a new level of power. Once hunted as blasphemers and heretics, they now enjoy relative equality and freedom to exist.

With growing numbers, and too powerful to defeat openly, the Soryans worship no God. More, their power comes not from Holy Aeremon, but from their voices and the songs they sing. They use this power to help those in need, to further knowledge and create much needed beauty in a nation still recovering from war.

The Soryans face many threats. Some they can see, others they may not discover until it's too late to act:

  • The Holy Order of Aeremon, constantly searching for a way to undermine and destroy them.
  • Dragons from the north attacking more frequently -with disturbing levels of coordination.
  • Across the sea, the non-magical nation of Kelland seeks to utilize the strife between the two Orders to their own advantage.
  • An ancient threat long since forgotten is stirring and making its presence known.

Unknown to all, non-human forces laugh as they watch humankind struggle and die, waiting for the right time to reveal themselves.

The promise of a new age of peace and wonder are just within reach, if only the Soryan Order can withstand all the trials mounting against them.
